Magstim are pleased to open online booking for next year's 'Summer School' - the Magstim Neuroscience Conference & Workshop 2012, which will be held in the Examination Schools in Oxford in the UK on 12th & 13th May 2012.

Based on feedback from previous events, we are rebranding and reformatting the TMS Summer School to be wider in its remit to encompass more than just TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) as well as now offering hands-on workshops with a variety of Neuromodulation research equipment that is used in the majority of neuroscience research.

The workshop titles can be found below. Delegates also have the option of booking for the celebratory dinner at Exeter College on the evening of Saturday 12th May (also below). The guest speaker will be Dr. Evan Harris.

The Academic Organising Committee consists of Vince Walsh, Charlotte Stagg and Sven Bestmann.

Please visit http://www.ticketsource.co.uk/magstim to book your place today.

NOTE: The conference is now fully subscribed.

(CONFERENCE FULLY SUBSCRIBED - NO PLACES AVAILABLE)

Workshops

There will be four workshops run on the following themes over the course of the two days:

  • Motor Threshold & Beyond
  • Cognitive Tasks
  • TDCS, TACS and Cortical Modulation
  • Neuronavigation

There is a separate charge to attend all four workshops (we cannot take payments to attend individual sessions), and that the workshops are only available to those who have also paid to attend the main conference.

(FULLY SUBSCRIBED - NO PLACES AVAILABLE)

Celebratory Dinner

As part of this year’s Conference, there will be a candlelit 3-course dinner (with wine, plus coffee and mints) held in Exeter College Dining Hall on Saturday 12th May.

The cost to attend is £50 per place, and places are only available to those who are attending the conference. Bookings can be made online via Ticketsource at:

The menu will be announced shortly. The Guest Speaker will be Dr. Evan Harris.

(LIMITED PLACES STILL AVAILABLE TO REGISTERED CONFERENCE DELEGATES)

Posters

In addition to these invited talks, we strongly encourage poster submissions from students, post-doctoral and established researchers working on any aspect of human brain stimulation. Based on attendee feedback from last year, this year's event will have longer poster sessions in a larger physical space to encourage quality scientific interaction. An abstract review committee will grade submissions and assess the poster sessions. A small number of the highest rated abstracts/poster presentations will be awarded prizes.

Abstract Guidelines

Poster abstract submissions should include Title, Authors and Affiliations, Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusions and References (if required). Figures and tables may be included, but their size should be compressed sufficiently to ensure that they are deliverable by email. The word limit is a maximum of 500 words (excluding authors, affiliations, figure legends and references).

Please send your abstracts by the strict deadline of Monday 16th April 2012 and indicate whether you would like to be considered for a prize oral platform presentation to: tmsschool@fmrib.ox.ac.uk

Poster Information: Please set up your poster from 8-9am on the day of your poster presentation. Maximum size is A0 in landscape orientation only.

PLEASE NOTE: The widely publicised deadline for abstract/ poster submissions has expired, and any submitted now will not be considered for the event.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not included in the registration price, but a wide variety of options can be found on either of the following two links:

www.oxfordrooms.co.uk

&

www.visitoxfordandoxfordshire.com

Although accommodation is plentiful in Oxford, we strongly advise that you book early, as the city is a popular destination with tourists during May. We also suggest that you also book early for the Magstim Neuroscience Conference & Workshop 2012 itself, as last year's event was oversubscribed and late applicants were turned away due to capacity restrictions.

Travel

Oxford is conveniently linked to London airports by regular bus services. London Heathrow is the closest airport (1 hour), followed by Gatwick (2 hours), Luton (3 hours) and Stansted (3.5 plus hours). Birmingham International airport is one hour away by train.
