Magstim DC Stimulator

Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) involves applying weak electrical currents to the head, to generate an electromagnetic field which modulates the activity of brain neurons. tDCS has been shown to selectively modulate neuronal excitability and can be used in conjunction with Magstim transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), fMRI or centrally acting drugs. It is being investigated as a treatment for a variety of conditions such as stroke recovery, depression and migraine. tDCS should not be confused with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) or TMS. tDCS is a technique that does not cause muscle twitches, seizures or other unwanted effects associated with older forms of electrical stimulation.

The Magstim eldith DC Stimulator (now available) is an ideal device for research in this field, being both portable and durable, with clear displays and easy to use controls.  The variety of settings give researchers the scope that they need to conduct their studies.
