Neurosign 100

The simplest of the Neurosign range of nerve monitors. With 2 channels, powerful audio, an easy to understand bargraph display, and a built-in stimulator, it is the perfect monitor for mastoidectomy and thyroidectomy.

The Neurosign 100 is used by ENT Surgeons to monitor the facial nerve during mastoidectomy and by General Surgeons to monitor the recurrent and superior laryngeal nerves during thyroidectomy. The machine has also been used to monitor the accessory, hypoglossal and trigeminal nerves during various procedures,

The Neurosign 100 detects the very small voltages created in muscles when they contract. Uninsulated needle electrodes are inserted into the muscle controlled by the nerve at risk during the surgery. When the surgeon mechanically disturbs the nerve – through traction or compression – the nerve fires and the muscle contracts. The Neurosign 100 detects these signals and amplifies them so that the surgeon can hear the EMG. This monitoring continues throughout the operation, and provides a safety net for the surgeon and patient.

In addition, the built-in stimulator allows the surgeon to confirm the location of the nerve, and to test its integrity during the procedure. The surgeon can also test the function of the nerve before closure.
