HD-EEG GES 500
The GES 500 redefines what’s possible in HD-EEG. Continuing the legacy of trusted EGI technology, the GES 500 delivers a complete solution for advanced neural monitoring, ready to support the needs of today’s labs and research clinic. It is designed as a connecting ecosystem, bringing together precision signal acquisition, intuitive software, and seamless workflow integration, all in one expandable platform.
Specifications
- Supporting 32, 64, 128, and up to 256 EEG channels, the GES 500 connects with EGI’s signature Geodesic Sensor Nets to provide dense, uniform coverage of Ag/AgCl electrodes across the scalp, cheeks, and neck. This high spatial resolution enables you to map the brain with greater accuracy, reducing the need for interpolation between widely spaced electrodes, and providing refined data you can rely on for conventional as well as cutting-edge analyses.
- The GES 500 can record sampling rates from 250 Hz up to 4000 Hz, allowing for the detection of even the fastest neural dynamics with high timing precision. Whether you are interested in event-related potentials, high-frequency oscillations, advanced signal processing, or emerging applications like closed-loop neuromodulation, the GES 500 is designed to capture every detail that matters.
- Built with inclusivity and comfort in mind, the Geodesic Sensor Nets used with the GES 500 conform gently and securely to any head shape and to a variety of hair types, thanks to their unique elastomer structure and electrode design. Application is quick and easy, saving valuable time during setup without the need for extensive head measurements, scalp abrasion or adhesives. This makes the GES 500 the trusted and preferred choice even for challenging or sensitive populations, including children and young infants.
- As a streamlined ecosystem, the GES 500 offers an ergonomic, user-friendly experience. A redesigned articulated arm and a single connector are used for all channel counts, while consolidated components allow for less cabling and a clean, professional setup. Its high-performance, Windows-based computer is custom-built and optimized for EEG acquisition, review, and analysis, allowing you to view a wide range of data on multiple monitors. Mobility is enhanced with options like full battery-powered operation, laptop configuration, or a dedicated cart for safe and convenient transport of the GES 500 within your site.
- The GES 500 supports interoperability and reliable synchronization with multiple amplifiers and other external hardware. Expand your GES 500 platform with EGI’s network video camera or improved Physio module, offering 8 to 16 physiological channels plus SpO₂, suitable for sleep recordings and many other applications. Connect an eye tracking device or a stimulus presentation system to run time-locked experiments. Use EGI’s tools for validating the timing of audiovisual stimuli, and experience seamless system communication via TTL signals, lab streaming layer (LSL), or the network-based EGI experimental control interface. The GES 500 can be combined with commercial as well as open-source packages including E-Prime, PsychoPy, PsychToolbox, Presentation, or LSL-based alternatives like NeuroPype.
- EGI’s Net Station 6 software suite is an in-house developed platform built specifically for the GES 500 and provides a complete package for EEG acquisition, review, and analysis tools. It features an intuitive interface, faster processing times, and robust data export options. Files are saved in Metafile Format (MFF), which can be imported into BESA, MATLAB or Python, as well as exported to EDF+, MAT files, and other custom formats, enabling you to use toolboxes like EEGLAB, Fieldtrip, Brainstorm. The GES 500 platform is also compatible with a variety of other third-party tools and cloud-based analysis pipelines, like HAPPE, MADE, and TESA. State-of-the-art analysis services and support are also available via Selway Data, Lucerum, or Mindig, offering tailored solutions for multi-site studies and clinical trials. From biomarkers to complex neural network dynamics and from ERP studies to source estimation, GES 500 opens new doors for discovery and exploration.
- The GES 500 offers optimal interoperability with transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and other neurostimulation devices, including a pioneering, true hardware-level integration with Magstim TMS systems. The bi-directional software connection between Magstim and EGI devices enables a rapid response on the TMS pulse, minimizing the TMS artifact in the EEG and shortening the EEG signal recovery time. In addition, it offers reduced latency and synchronized control via a unified software for an efficient and effortless workflow. Combining the technical expertise of Magstim and EGI, this single-vendor solution offers end-to-end user support, bringing TMS-EEG experiments to a new level.
- The GES 500 includes an on-device computational module designed to support Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), offering built-in potential to evolve advanced applications like brain-computer interface (BCI), closed-loop paradigms, phase-locked stimulation, and neurofeedback. Additional developer interfaces are under consideration to expand and fully utilize this hardware capability.
